Small steps towards a big impact.
We want to play our part in creating a more positive fashion industry, continually enhancing the transparency of our actions and clearly communicating about our practices.
There’s a long way ahead to improve and do better, but we’re working on this.
We create timeless collections for the modern woman through carefully selected fabrics, precise silhouettes and attention to detail.
One of our main goals is to protect the environment by producing and consuming responsibly. We believe in less but better.
Being a direct-to-consumer brand allows us to control our inventory precisely and never over-produce.
LOCALLY & ETHICALLY MADE
Our products are intimately connected to the place, provenance and people behind them.
100% of our products are manufactured within our country – Republic of Moldova, demonstrating an investment in the local economy and environment.
Each piece is made with integrity from the highest-quality materials by our professionals.
We ensure safe, healthy, and equitable working conditions for all the people working at RAQUETTE and we stimulate them to adopt a healthy and eco-friendly lifestyle.
80% of our garments (suits, dresses and other woven pieces) are made in our own production facility – a 400 m2 laboratory. We call it laboratory because it is smaller than a real big factory, but much bigger than an atelier.
The remaining 20% (t-shirts and knitwear) are made in other two local production facilities. We visit them often and build strong personal relationships with the owners so that we ensure their workers have fair wages, reasonable hours and a healthy environment, like our laboratory does.
All our sewing machines are ergonomic and have long lasting power saving motors (they save up to 70% energy comparing to standard industrial machines).
All our lights are LED, however our lab has also natural light due to it’s open-space design and large windows.
In the past 3 years we started to introduce more organic fibers in our collections like Tencel, organic cotton, virgin wool, modal and linen.
The polyester blends are also produced and dyed within sustainable practices by our suppliers, companies that meet our sustainable criteria. We use these fabrics only if they are necessary for specific fabric/garment construction and performance in time and we try to use less than 30%. Our goal is to use 0% polyester.
The accessories we mostly use are from natural raw materials like shell, mother of pearl or corozo (which is 100% plant based).
We recycle all the remaining fabrics and accessories from the manufacturing process by sewing dust bags for packaging or donating them to local artisans which use them further.
Our Eco boxes are made of recycled and responsibly sourced materials and are 100% recyclable.
Even the smallest packaging components can have an impact in our planet – the tissue paper, packaging notes, return and swing tags are also made of compostable materials and are plastic free.
Some of our pieces are carefully wrapped in 100% silk organza dust-bags, which you can carry with you when traveling. They’re made from left-over fabric from our cutting process.
Every parcel is shipped via DHL Go Green service. This means that every parcel or small package sent to you is automatically shipped in a CO2-neutral manner.
‘NO SALES’ POLICY
We do not overproduce, so we never have stock left for mark-downs.
As we do not encourage over-consumption, we believe sales are not very eco-friendly.
We think everyone should be investing in pieces that would last them possibly a lifetime.
